Hannade

TNB: Hey Hannade. It’s great to see a girl who can not only fish, but also handle a canoe. Have you always been an outdoors enthusiast?
Hannade: Oh Yeah. I grew up going camping and hiking, mainly up in Michigan. It is nice to get up early and paddle across the water as the sun comes up. There is something special about being outdoors. People were not meant to be sitting inside all day.
TNB: Do you have a favorite outdoor memory?
Hannade: A few years back I was canoeing in the boundary waters. I went out after dinner by myself to paddle across the lake and back. A huge storm rolled in and I had to beach the canoe on a random shoreline and flipped it over to keep out of the rain. I was so peaceful as the rain pounded on the aluminum and the lake steamed from the temperature drop. I will never forget that.
TNB: I’m surprised you didn’t have a fleet of guys chasing after you to make sure you were OK. I am sure there are a few guys out there that wouldn’t mind spending a rainy evening under a canoe with you.
Hannade: Sure my friends were concerned, but I am very independent and can handle almost anything. I like the challenge of figuring things out on my own.
TNB: It looks like you’re pretty handy with a fishing pole. What is your favorite type fish to catch?
Hannade: I guess by default it would have to be walleye. Up north, it is one of the best fish to catch and eat for shorelunch. I like catching all kinds of fish, especially pike, because they fight good and have huge teeth; but walleyes are easy to fillet and taste great.
TNB: You’re not grossed out by guts and cutting fish?
Hannde: No, I have been filleting fish since I was a kid. I kind of enjoy it.
TNB: Well I hope you keep going on your canoe expeditions. Maybe next year we can have an exclusive Baitmate canoe trip and raffle of a ticket for a lucky guy to guide the trip.
Hannade: Count me in! I’m sure I could teach him a few things.
